My first DEMA was a fascinating insight into the diving industry in the USA and Caribbean. I met so many wonderful enthusiastic and pro-active people I am still buzzing two weeks later. And I finally got to meet the Jeffrey Gallant, author of the Diving Almanac seen here launching the 2008 edition.
Two new articles have been added to the Diving Articles collection. The first is "A Scuba Flippers Primer" to help out people new to the sport cut through some of the fluff about flippers. The second is "Color Underwater" which describes color loss at depth and some suggestions on software to use for your photos to help correct it.
We've added a daily scuba diving picture courtesy of the Scuba Start Page at Scuba.IsMyFix.com. We're still trying to figure out the best way to incorporate the image into the layout but are glad to have the visual.
The web directory is up and running and ready for submissions. It has taken longer than expected to get here but we hope it will live up to it's expectations! The goal of the directory is to collect a list of online resources useful to divers. Each resource then has room to be described briefly, voted on by visitors, and also have comments added. It is our hope that these tools will allow the best of the best online to rise to the top and save time for everyone!
We have posted our privacy policy and terms of use on the site. They can be accessed through the "About Dive Lounge" page. The web directory functionality is taking a bit longer than we had hoped but is progressing and should be available soon.
It is completed and seems to be working perfectly. The change will allow us to update the site much more efficiently. The next project in the works is to add a web directory system to the site. Users will be able to add links on online resources of interest to the dive community and post a description of the resource. Once in the system, a rating and comment system will allow other users to figure out which of the sites is the best for their needs. We hope to have the new system up and running by the end of the day on Friday.
We're going to be making some changes on the back-end of DiveLounge.com to make it easier to maintain the site and upgrade it in the future. During the process we may have short periods of down time but hope to have the change be undetectable by our divers. Wish us luck!
